Wizkid sets a career milestone on the UK Albums chart with ‘Morayo’
Nigerian music icon Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has added another remarkable achievement to his illustrious career. His latest album, ‘Morayo,’ debuted at number 14 on the UK Official Albums Chart, marking his highest-ever entry on the prestigious list.
This milestone comes as ‘Morayo‘ surpasses the success of Wizkid’s critically acclaimed ‘Made In Lagos,’ which debuted at number 15 and played a pivotal role in redefining African music’s global appeal.
The debut at number 14 solidifies Wizkid’s standing as a leading force in African music on the international stage.
The album, released on November 22, 2024, has also been breaking records on streaming platforms. On Spotify, ‘Morayo‘ set a new benchmark for the highest first-week streams by an African album, toppling the record previously held by South African star Tyla’s ‘Water.’
As fans and critics alike continue to celebrate the project’s success, ‘Morayo‘ is poised to make a strong debut on the Billboard 200 chart, with official results expected on Monday, December 2, 2024.
With ‘Morayo‘ being his fourth project to chart in the UK, Wizkid demonstrates his ability to consistently captivate audiences across the globe. The album’s achievements reflect the growing prominence of African music and the exceptional talent driving its global rise.
