Wizkid’s Joro Goes Gold in France as Made In Lagos (Deluxe) Breaks New Ground in the U.S.

Afrobeats icon Wizkid has added two remarkable international milestones to his growing list of achievements, with his hit single Joro earning gold certification in France and his acclaimed project Made In Lagos (Deluxe) setting a historic benchmark in the United States.
On Tuesday, September 23, 2025, the French National Syndicate of Phonographic Publishing (SNEP) confirmed that Joro had surpassed 100,000 combined sales and streams, securing gold status more than six years after its release in 2019. The track, known for its hypnotic rhythm and timeless appeal, has steadily maintained popularity across Europe, proving the enduring global resonance of Wizkid’s sound.

The celebration didn’t stop there. In the U.S., Wizkid etched his name deeper into history as Made In Lagos (Deluxe) became the first Nigerian album to see every track surpass 100,000 units sold. This unprecedented milestone underscores both the cultural impact of the album and the surging worldwide demand for Afrobeats.
Originally released in 2020, Made In Lagos and its deluxe edition produced global hits like “Essence,” featuring Tems, which helped catapult Afrobeats to mainstream recognition across the Atlantic. Years later, the album continues to serve as a cultural touchstone, influencing artists and reshaping how African music is consumed on the global stage.
Together, these achievements reinforce Wizkid’s standing as one of Africa’s most influential exports — a trailblazer who continues to expand Afrobeats’ global reach while setting records that elevate the entire genre.
