Wizkid’s Essence with Tems has broken a new record on the Billboard Hot 100 and World Digital Song Sales charts.
For the week of July 24th, 2021, Essence topped the Billboard World Digital Songs Sales list.
However, this isn’t the first time the artist has topped the charts; in 2019, his collaboration with Beyonce on Brown Skin Girl, reached number one.
Wizkid’s song Essence isn’t his only song on the Billboard World Digital Songs Chart. Songs from the singer’s most recent album, Made In Lagos, are also climbing the charts quickly.
Last year, Smile, No Stress, and Ginger were ranked Nos. 5, 4, and 10 respectively. Fever and his appearance on Olamide’s Kana both reached Nos. 10 and 4 in 2019.
Meanwhile, It also peaked at no. 72 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the week ending July 24th, 2021, this is its second week on the chart, having debuted at no. 82 just last week.

Furthermore, it is the first fully Nigerian song to chart on the Billboard Hot 100. The song has risen ten spots in just one week after its release, demonstrating its huge global success.
Wizkid’s song Essence isn’t his first to chart on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2016, his guest appearance on Drake’s global smash hit One Dance earned him a no. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100, which he held for months.
The Brown Skin Girl song, which he co-wrote for Beyonce’s Lion King album, peaked at number 76 when it was released in 2019.
