Afrobeat superstar Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, known professionally as Wizkid, has added another award to his name as his hit song “Essence”, featuring Tems and Justin Bieber, wins the 2022 BET Award.
Big Wiz’s Essence has added another award to its name as the hit record wins ‘Best collaboration’ at the BET Awards 2022.
The Essence version with Tems and Justin Bieber that won the award for Best Collaboration was released in 2021 after the initial release.
This record was nominated alongside other great records from top artists such as “Every Chance I Get” by DJ Khaled Feat. Lil Baby & Lil Durk, “Family Ties,” by Baby Keem & Kendrick Lamar, “Kiss Me More” by Doja Cat Feat. SZA, “Way 2 Sexy” by Drake Feat. Future & Young Thug, and “Whole Lotta Money” (Remix) by Bia Feat. Nicki Minaj.

Tems, who was present when the award was presented, expressed gratitude to the BET Awards, saying:
“Thank you, BET… This award is for really Wiz, Africa, and I just want to say that great thing is happening out of Africa right now and the light is on everyone there… This is dedicated to Africa and to Nigeria. Thank you.”
