Nigerian award-winning artist Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, professionally known as Wizkid, has achieved another remarkable milestone with his 2020 hit track, “Essence,” featuring Tems, as it attains quadruple platinum certification in the United States.
This nostalgic anthem has made history by reaching quadruple platinum status in the USA, signifying sales of over 4 million units.

“Essence” is a standout track from Wizkid’s globally acclaimed album “Made In Lagos,” released in October 2020.
In 2020, Wizkid made history as the first African artist to receive Gold certification in the United States, symbolizing the sale of 500,000 units of his smash hit single “Come Closer.”
Furthermore, Wizkid’s collaboration with Canadian rapper Drake on “One Dance” has achieved an astounding eight-time platinum certification in the USA, indicating sales of over 8 million units.
Joining Wizkid in this illustrious list are other Nigerian artists such as Rema, Burna Boy, and Tems.
According to Wikipedia, platinum certification was introduced in 1976, requiring the sale of one million units for albums and two million for singles to achieve this prestigious status.
