Wizkid’s ‘Essence’ certified gold in France.
Nigerian superstar Wizkid continues to achieve remarkable milestones in his illustrious career, securing a new gold certification in France for his chart-topping song ‘Essence.’
Wizkid, a global icon, gained international commercial success with his 2020 smash hit ‘Essence,’ contributing significantly to the global rise of Afrobeats.
In a recent accomplishment, ‘Essence‘ featuring Tems and Justin Bieber has garnered another certification in France. The official Instagram page of France’s certification body, SNEP, announced that ‘Essence’ has surpassed 15 million streams in France, earning it a gold certification.
This certification adds to a series of international accolades, making ‘Essence‘ one of the most certified African songs globally. Originally released as a single from Wizkid’s Grammy-nominated fourth album ‘Made In Lagos,’ ‘Essence’ achieved immense commercial success, gaining international acclaim.
With the Justin Bieber remix, the single reached No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 16 on the UK Official Singles chart. ‘Essence’ has received platinum certifications in the US, UK, Switzerland, Canada, and South Africa.
Nominated for the 2021 Grammys in the category of Best Global Music Performance, ‘Essence‘ has accumulated numerous awards, including the 2021 BET award for Best Collaboration and the 2021 Soul Train award for Song of the Year.
