Wizkid breaks another major global record

Grammy-winning Nigerian superstar Wizkid has made history once again, becoming the first African artist to exceed 20 billion global audio-on-demand streams, a feat officially confirmed by renowned music analytics platform ChartMasters.
The staggering number accounts for streams from Wizkid’s solo records as well as his collaborative works. Leading the pack is his iconic feature on Drake’s global smash hit “One Dance,” featuring British singer Kyla.
The track alone has amassed over 3.6 billion streams on Spotify and holds a Guinness World Record as the first song to surpass one billion plays on the platform.
This historic milestone further solidifies Wizkid’s status as a global music powerhouse. In 2023, he broke new ground as the first African artist to receive the Brit Billion Award, celebrating over one billion audio streams in the UK alone.
With over 65 million units sold worldwide, Wizkid remains Afrobeats’ top-selling artist of all time and one of the continent’s most influential and commercially successful musical exports.
His latest streaming achievement not only highlights his longevity but also his unparalleled impact on the global stage.

Recall, Wizkid’s Morayo Tour is facing unexpected turbulence as key stops—Canada, Berlin, and previously the US—have now been officially cancelled, according to ticketing platform Ticketmaster.
This is a significant blow to fans, especially since these locations were major highlights in the global tour initially set to celebrate the legacy of Wizkid’s late mother, Morayo Balogun.
While no official explanation has been given for the wave of cancellations, refunds are currently being issued, and fans are encouraged to follow up with their ticket vendors for confirmation and reimbursement.
