Wizkid speaks on why Puma chose Davido over him
Popular artist Wizkid has claimed that global fashion brand Puma initially approached him before offering a deal to fellow Afrobeats star Davido, who is currently their brand ambassador.
This revelation came amidst Wizkid’s recent public outburst against Davido.
Responding to a fan who criticized him, Wizkid explained that he turned down the Puma deal because they couldn’t meet his financial demands, stating that he wanted more than what they were willing to offer.
He suggested that the budget Puma had for their African market was more suitable for Davido.
Wizkid also made bold claims about his status in the industry, asserting that he is bigger than fellow artists like Rema, Tems, and Burna Boy.
In a series of posts, he wrote:
“U idiot! I turned down Puma cos they could no longer afford to pay me cos I wanted more! Don’t need dat! Way bigger than every artiste u just mentioned! Not jealous! Love em all…With ur dirty ass shirt! Idiot!
No! Puma is a big brand! But the budget they had for Africa wasn’t for me! Was cool for your client tho! 🦅”
In other news, Wizkid has escalated his ongoing feud with fellow Afrobeats star Davido, using social media to assert his perceived superiority over his rival in a string of personal attacks.
The “Essence” hitmaker has been directing jabs at Davido for hours, although the root cause of the dispute remains unclear.
In a recent post, Wizkid outlined the reasons he believes he is better than Davido. He boasted about being surrounded by “broke boys who worship him” and went on to comment on how the wealthy have weaponized poverty, implying that he stands above such practices.
