Wizkid shares how he recorded his biggest hit songs
Nigerian award-winning artist Wizkid revealed that he created all his chart-topping songs from a relaxed, seated position, without exerting too much effort. In a widely shared video, Wizkid emphasized that he doesn’t believe in overworking to produce hits.
The Afrobeats star, known for his hit song “Essence,” also expressed his disinterest in actively promoting his music or engaging in media interviews.
“All my biggest songs, from ‘Holla At Your Boy’ to ‘Soco’, ‘Joro’, ‘Ojuelegba’, I recorded them sitting down,” Wizkid said.
He continued, “You [P2J] know how things are for me in Lagos. You’ve been in my house. You know what I do. I’m just chilling—no stress.
“I hate doing promo, and I can’t stand press. I know exactly what the people want. [Producer] P2J is the only one who truly understands me.
“All we have to do is turn on the mic. The amazing thing is that the world is now globalized; you don’t need anyone to lie to you.”

Recall, Wizkid hinted at a potential release date for his highly anticipated new project. The singer might finally be dropping his new album in less than a month.
The upcoming project will be his sixth studio album and comes on the heels of notable 2024 features, including his collaboration on Bob Marley’s “One Love” album and DJ Tunez’s “Apala Disco (Rmx),” which has become a crowd favorite.
The new album, titled “Morayo,” has been announced multiple times, and Wizkid has now revealed that it will be a tribute to his late mother, whom he lost in 2023.
