Wizkid responds as singer Ruger begins to cry as they are about to drop songs on the same day
Grammy-winning Afrobeats star Wizkid shared a warm exchange with fellow artist Ruger after the two realized they would be releasing new songs on the same day.
Hours earlier, Wizkid had announced via his X (formerly Twitter) account that Dance, the second single from his forthcoming album Morayo, will be dropping on November 15, ahead of the full album’s release on November 22, 2024.
In his tweet, Wizkid wrote, “Dance! 15th! 🩶🦅,” signalling excitement for the upcoming release.
However, Ruger, who had also planned a release for that date, humorously reacted with crying emojis, playfully expressing frustration that his efforts to avoid Wizkid’s release date hadn’t worked out.
Ruger tweeted, “God !!!! You and I know I tried to avoid Big Wiz’s date 😭😭. God Abeg 😂😂😂😂.”
Wizkid, known for supporting younger artists, quickly reassured Ruger, affirming that they’re in it together. He replied, “We gather Dey together! ❤️🦅,” showing encouragement and hinting that his dedicated fanbase, known as FC, would support both releases.
An X user, @mo_bolaji_, added, “FC dey for Ruuuu,” to which Wizkid responded, “No be lie ❤️🦅,” further showing solidarity.
This is not the first time Wizkid has openly shown love for Ruger. In June 2024, Wizkid praised Ruger’s hit song Make Way, expressing his admiration for the track.
He tweeted, “Yo i truly love Ruger’s make way! ❤️ that guy amazing!” Ruger, overjoyed by Wizkid’s praise, responded ecstatically, writing, “Jesus Christ I fit craze ooooooooooooooo.”
The exchange has since gained attention on social media, with fans praising Wizkid’s support and camaraderie toward his colleagues, solidifying his role as both a global superstar and a mentor to rising talents in the industry.
