Wizkid’s Made in Lagos makes an unexpected return to the Billboard World Albums Chart, Extends African Record

Nigerian music star Wizkid has achieved another milestone as his critically acclaimed album Made in Lagos makes a surprise return to the Billboard World Albums chart.
The project, which originally dropped in 2020, now holds the 17th spot, extending its record as the longest-charting African album with an impressive 146 weeks on the chart.
Made in Lagos continues to solidify its legacy as a global Afrobeats phenomenon, blending elements of reggae, R&B, and Afrobeats to create a timeless sound.
The album’s commercial and critical success was fueled by hit tracks such as Essence featuring Tems, which made history as the first Nigerian song to enter the Billboard Hot 100, later soaring into the top ten following a remix with Justin Bieber.
The project’s lasting presence on the Billboard World Albums chart highlights Afrobeats’ growing influence on the global stage.
In 2022, Made in Lagos further cemented its dominance by ranking second on the Billboard Year-End World Album Chart, trailing only BTS’s Proof.
Wizkid’s continued chart success underscores his position as one of Africa’s biggest musical exports, proving that Made in Lagos remains a defining force in the worldwide Afrobeats movement.
As Wizkid’s “Made in Lagos” re-entered the Billboard World Albums chart at #17, Wizkid now has two albums in the top 20, with “Morayo” also at #19.
