Wizkid sets new record for longest gap between NO. 1 songs in Nigeria
Nigerian music superstar Wizkid has set a new record for the longest gap between No. 1 songs on the TurnTable Top 100, Nigeria’s leading music chart.
Asake’s ‘MMS,’ featuring Wizkid from his recently released third album “Lungu Boy,” has reached No. 1 on the TurnTable Top 100, marking Wizkid’s second chart-topping single.
‘MMS‘ comes 3 years, 9 months, and 12 days after Wizkid’s last chart-topping hit, ‘Ginger,’ featuring Burna Boy. This achievement sets a new record, surpassing the previous one of 1 year, 10 months, and 16 days held by Omah Lay.

The record underscores Wizkid’s enduring influence, as he has remained a dominant force in Nigerian mainstream music for over a decade.
The Grammy-winning superstar is set to release his highly anticipated sixth LP, “Morayo,” named in honor of his late mother.
Leading up to the album, Wizkid dropped the second installment of his “Soundman” EP in December 2023. He has also made several guest appearances in 2024, including on DJ Tunez’s ‘Apala Disco,’ Shenseea’s ‘Work Me Out,’ and most recently on Asake’s ‘MMS.’
Wizkid has confirmed that “Morayo” will feature Nigerian artists and has described it as the best project he has ever created.
