Wizkid celebrates his mother’s posthumous birthday
Nigerian international superstar Wizkid has hyped his upcoming sixth album, ‘Morayo,’ calling it his best work yet. Wizkid, who has recorded several notable moments for Nigerian and African music with his hit singles and albums, expressed his excitement in a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account on July 4, 2024.
“MORAYO!! Best album I ever made!! Now listen! It’s only up from here!” the post reads.

‘Morayo‘ is named after Wizkid’s late mother, who passed away in August 2023. The Grammy winner’s latest post came after he paid an emotional tribute to his mother on her first posthumous birthday.
Happy birthday love of my life! Miss you everyday. First one without you here feels unreal. Nothing makes sense without you mama! Life is empty without you. Continue to watch over us ! My heart is broken forever ! 💔 love you love love you MORAYO mi. Your smile is all a memory I…

Wizkid also revealed that the album will feature several Nigerian artists. He was recently spotted in the studio with artists including Shallipopi, Odumodublvck, and Omah Lay. This collaboration has further heightened anticipation for the album.
‘Morayo‘ follows Wizkid’s 2023 EP ‘S2,’ which included the songs ‘IDK‘ featuring Zlatan and ‘Diamond‘ featuring Wande Coal. It will be his sixth LP, coming after his 2022 album ‘More Love, Less Ego,’ which featured the lead singles ‘Money & Love‘ and ‘Bad To Me.’
The anticipation for ‘Morayo‘ is high, especially after Wizkid’s controversial statement on Instagram, where he distanced himself from Afrobeats and suggested that fans who love his debut album ‘Superstar‘ and the Afrobeats genre should not bother listening to his next album.
