Wizkid Unveils Daughter’s Name in Touching Tribute to Late Mother

International Afrobeats icon Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, widely known as Wizkid, has officially revealed the name of his infant daughter, and it carries deep emotional significance.
The award-winning singer shared the update on Saturday via his official X (formerly Twitter) page, revealing that his daughter has been named after his late mother.
“Morayo Balogun,” he simply tweeted, in what fans and observers are calling a heartfelt tribute to the matriarch of the Balogun family who passed away in 2023.

This announcement came just a day after the singer made headlines for appearing publicly with his daughter for the first time at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York.
The 6-month-old made her debut appearance alongside her superstar father and her mother, talent manager Jada Pollock, at the premiere of his documentary Wizkid: Long Live Lagos.
The family turned heads on the red carpet, with Wizkid and baby Morayo charming photographers in matching white outfits. Jada also caught attention in a stylish pink-and-white tie-dye dress, accessorized with bold red sunglasses.
Though the birth of the child was kept private initially, Wizkid had confirmed in January via a tweet that he had welcomed a daughter. At the time, he expressed deep affection for his new baby, writing about how much he missed his “princess.”
Wizkid and Jada Pollock share a long-standing relationship that has extended beyond music. The couple already have a son, Zion Ayo-Balogun, born in 2017. In October 2022, Jada quietly confirmed the arrival of their second child, though details were scarce until now.
With the announcement of Morayo’s name, fans have commended the singer for honoring his mother’s memory in such a personal and meaningful way, further endearing him to his fanbase across the world.
