Afrobeats icon Ayodeji Balogun, better known as Wizkid, has opened up on what truly defines his life at the moment, placing fatherhood, music, and God above everything else.

The 35-year-old superstar shared the personal reflection during a relaxed conversation with fellow singer Asake on Close Friends Only with Instagram, a special Instagram series aired on Thursday night.
During the session, both artists were asked to name the three most important things in their lives right now. Wizkid’s answer came without hesitation and began with his role as a father.
“For me, my daughter. I just wake up and smile. Music. God,” he said.
The brief but heartfelt response gave fans a rare look into Wizkid’s private world, highlighting how much his family life now anchors him away from the public glare.
Known for keeping his personal affairs largely out of the spotlight, Wizkid went on to describe a simple, grounded routine that contrasts sharply with his superstar image.
According to him, his days often start early, taking his children to school and living what he called a normal life.
“We’re normal human beings too,” he added.
Asake, who answered the question before Wizkid, shared similar values, naming God, family, and peace of mind as his current priorities, a response that resonated strongly with viewers.

Beyond personal values, the conversation flowed into music, friendship, and longevity in the industry. Wizkid praised Asake, fondly called Mr Money, describing him as “one of the most talented human beings” he has encountered, while Asake returned the admiration, calling Wizkid his definition of greatness.
The exchange was widely praised online, with fans describing it as refreshing, honest, and deeply human—especially coming from two of Afrobeats’ biggest global stars.
The conversation also comes amid growing excitement around the duo’s upcoming joint project. Just weeks ago, Wizkid and Asake confirmed plans to release a collaborative body of work titled REAL before the end of December.
The announcement was made earlier this month during an Apple Music session, where Wizkid revealed the project while seated beside Asake.
“Special announcement, 2025 Mr Money X Big Wiz project. It’s called REAL, and it drops this December. For the people, Vol. 1,” Wizkid said, as Asake nodded in agreement.

Both artists have enjoyed a hugely successful year. Wizkid’s album Morayo, released in November 2024, finished 2025 as Nigeria’s most-streamed album on both Apple Music and Spotify.
Asake also dominated the charts, emerging as Apple Music Nigeria’s most-streamed artiste of 2025, powered by hits like Why Love, which ended the year as the platform’s most-streamed song.
Their forthcoming collaboration builds on an already strong creative chemistry. The pair previously worked together on MMS, a standout track from Asake’s 2024 album that became the fourth most-streamed song of 2025 on Apple Music Nigeria, as well as Bad Girl, another fan favourite.
With REAL on the way, fans are now eagerly waiting to see how two of Afrobeats’ most influential voices will merge their worlds, both musically and culturally, once again.
