Wizkid set new record to become the first African artist to do this.
Sensational Afrobeat superstar Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, known professionally as Wizkid made music industry history by being the first African artist to set outstanding records.
Big Wiz has made history by being the first African musician to have three singles-certified Platinum in the US.
This was announced by Chart Data in a post on its official Twitter page on Thursday, May 11. According to the post, Wizkid has now received three Platinum plaques for three singles, the most by any African.
The 2017 smash single “Come Closer” by Wizkid and Drake has now received RIAA Platinum certification. It became his third single to reach platinum status in the nation after “One Dance” and “Essence.”
Burna Boy, CKay, Rema, and Tems are among the other Nigerian singers who have platinum hits in the United States.

The Starboy entertainment boss has once made history again with his ‘Made In Lagos’ album by becoming the first African album to be certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
With the achievement of this new milestone, Wizkid becomes the first musician from Nigeria and Africa whose album has sold more than 500,000 copies in the US.
This is only one of the many landmarks the album has reached since its release, with the majority of its tracks performing incredibly well and setting records on their own.
Wizkid’s Made In Lagos rises to #14 (+1) on Billboard World Albums Chart this week, it has expanded 128 weeks on the chart. Peak 1×7
