Brit Awards honours Wizkid for setting new Afrobeats record in the UK.
Nigerian Afrobeat superstar Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, known professionally as Wizkid, has been recognized by the British Phonographic Industry music award body (Brit Awards) for his most recent success in the United Kingdom.
Big Wiz earns honourable accolades at the Brit Awards for his pioneering effort in breaking the UK Afrobeats record. The award-winning performer is the first Afrobeats singer to reach a significant milestone in the United Kingdom.
The frontline ace and owner of Starboy Entertainment recently performed a gig at London’s 62,850-capacity Tottenham Stadium, marking him the first and only African musician to headline and perform at the arena.
Update: On Monday, July 31, 2023, the official Brit Awards Twitter page announced that the Afrobeats superstar has received the prestigious Brit Billion Award for accumulating an astounding one billion streams in the United Kingdom.
The tweet read:
