Award-winning Nigerian superstars Wizkid and Asake have reunited on a brand-new single, “Jogodo,” setting the tone for what promises to be one of the most anticipated collaborative projects in Afrobeats this year.

Released in the early hours of Friday across major streaming platforms, “Jogodo” serves as the first official offering from their forthcoming joint EP, REAL, Vol. 1, scheduled to drop on January 23.
The song arrives with quiet confidence, blending slick production, rhythm-heavy percussion, and bold brass elements into a smooth yet swagger-filled groove.
At its core, “Jogodo” is a showcase of chemistry. Wizkid’s laid-back, honeyed melodies glide effortlessly alongside Asake’s energetic, street-rooted delivery, creating a sound that feels equally at home in late-night lounges and packed dance floors. It’s a seamless fusion of two distinct styles that somehow feel naturally aligned.
Performed largely in Nigerian Pidgin, the track explores themes of nightlife, intoxication, freedom, and carefree release. Both artists trade verses in an easy, conversational flow that reflects a partnership built on shared culture and mutual respect.
Wizkid has described the collaboration as instinctive, noting that they “speak the same musical language,” while Asake says the record was born out of genuine friendship and creative harmony.

Lyrically, the duo blend Yoruba and Pidgin with an infectious, chant-ready chorus that instantly sticks.
“No be for here, you go jogodo/ Say tonight you go dey know, know, know/ O fe pa mi with ogogoro/ No be today we dey kpo, kpo/ Bobo, your body dey pololo (Yeah)/ Yepa, your body don dey tongolo (Yeah)/ I found the money ’til tomorrow-row/ Baby, baby, jowo, omo Ọlọ́run, fine bobo/ Jowo maje o jabo,” they sing.
Adding to the excitement, Asake recently took to Instagram to reveal that REAL, Vol. 1 will feature four tracks in total: “Jogodo,” “Turbulence,” “Iskolodo,” and “Alaye.”
The new release continues a successful run for the duo following their Grammy-nominated hit “MMS,” further cementing their influence in pushing Afrobeats onto the global stage. “Jogodo” also marks Asake’s first official release since his historic Red Bull Symphonic performance in the United States.
With anticipation steadily building ahead of REAL, Vol. 1, “Jogodo” arrives as a confident, celebratory statement — one that signals a major moment for contemporary African music and a collaboration already generating serious buzz.
