Afrobeats lit up New York City as Asake took center stage at the Red Bull Symphonic concert, joining a prestigious roster of U.S. headliners that includes Rick Ross in Atlanta (2022) and Metro Boomin in Los Angeles (2023).
While the sold-out show was already a milestone, it was the surprise appearance of Afrobeats superstar Wizkid that sent social media into a frenzy.

Out of nowhere, Wizkid strolled onto the stage at Brooklyn Kings Theatre, triggering wild cheers from the crowd. The duo performed their 2024 smash hit “MMS,” accompanied by a full symphony orchestra, blending Asake’s raw street-pop energy with Wizkid’s smooth, effortless flow.
Fans couldn’t get enough, taking to the internet to rave about the magical chemistry between the Starboy and one of Afrobeats’ rising kings.

Asake also teased a new, unreleased track, giving fans a glimpse of the next chapter in his ever-evolving sound. But beyond the music, Wizkid’s appearance carried symbolic weight as a legendary Afrobeats figure standing side by side with the genre’s new torchbearer.
It’s been a big year for Wizkid as well. Even while celebrating others, he’s still racking up accolades.
The prolific hitmaker is nominated for a 2026 Grammy in the Best African Music Performance category for his collaboration “Gimme Dat” with Ayra Starr, proving that the Afrobeats movement shows no signs of slowing down.
