Nigerian music heavyweights Wizkid and Asake have weighed in on the rising influence of artificial intelligence (AI) in the creative space, sharing their thoughts during a relaxed Instagram conversation titled For Friends Only.

The short clip, which has since gone viral, captured the duo in an easy, free-flowing discussion about technology, music, and the future of live performance.
During the session, Wizkid made it clear that AI is impossible to ignore in today’s world, stressing that it will only become more relevant with time.
“AI is the future, whether you use it to enhance your craft or not,” he said.
His comment echoes an ongoing global conversation in the music industry, where AI is increasingly finding its way into music production, songwriting assistance, and visual creation.
Asake responded with humour, pushing the conversation in a playful direction.
“I love AI, I won’t lie. If AI can go perform for me and they pay the money into my account, I don’t mind,” he joked.
Wizkid laughed it off, replying, “AI, you are very welcome to do whatever you want.”
The lighthearted exchange once again highlighted the easy chemistry and brotherly bond between the two artists, a relationship that has become more visible in recent months.
Asake: Do you see yourself shooting your next video with AI?
Wizkid: I could try and see, if it comes out amazing. As creatives & entertainers, I don’t think it’s advisable to always make everything AI. Making our own content and enhancing it with AI is the future” pic.twitter.com/JjZnwJHHiS

Beyond the jokes, the timing of the conversation reflects just how strong a year both stars are having. Wizkid, born Ayodeji Balogun, released his album Morayo in November 2024. Despite arriving late in the year, the project went on to become Nigeria’s most-streamed album of 2025 on both Apple Music and Spotify.
Asake, whose real name is Ahmed Ololade, also enjoyed a dominant run. He emerged as the most-streamed artist of 2025 on Apple Music Nigeria, powered by consistent hit records and a fiercely loyal fan base.
The achievement further cemented his status as one of the most influential Nigerian artists of his generation.
Their musical synergy has played a key role in their continued success. Wizkid and Asake have teamed up on multiple occasions, delivering records that performed strongly across streaming platforms.
One of their biggest collaborations, “MMS,” finished as the fourth most-streamed song of 2025 on Apple Music Nigeria, placing it among the year’s top five songs. They also worked together on “Bad Girl,” a track featured on Wizkid’s Morayo album.
The partnership goes beyond individual songs. Earlier this year, Wizkid publicly confirmed that both artists are working on a joint project. Speaking during an Apple Music session, he revealed that the collaborative project, titled REAL, is scheduled for release in December.

Describing it as a “Mr Money X Big Wiz project,” Wizkid hinted that it could serve as the first volume of a series, with Asake seated beside him at the time, nodding in agreement and confirming that the project is indeed underway.
Their frequent appearances together, online support for each other, and natural chemistry have continued to spark conversations among fans.
While their comments about AI were made in jest, they reflect a broader shift in how Nigerian artists are approaching discussions around technology, creativity, and the future of performance.
Rather than pushing back against change, Wizkid and Asake appear open to exploring how new tools could shape the next chapter of the music industry.
As the year draws to a close, anticipation continues to build around the promised joint project—and what the duo will deliver next.
