Arsenal fans have reason to celebrate, as William Saliba has committed his future to the club, signing a fresh long-term deal that extends his stay at the Emirates.

The announcement came on Tuesday, with the Premier League side confirming the Frenchman’s new contract.
According to reports, the 24-year-old defender has agreed to a five-year deal that runs until 2030, replacing his previous contract that was set to expire in 2027. Despite rumoured interest from Spanish giants Real Madrid, Saliba’s decision to stay was widely expected given his growing influence in Mikel Arteta’s team.
The centre-back first joined Arsenal in 2019 but spent time on loan in France before breaking into the Gunners’ first XI during the 2022/23 campaign. Since then, he has been a pillar at the heart of defence, helping the side secure three consecutive second-place finishes in the Premier League.

Speaking after signing, Saliba said, “I feel at home. We have a good team, we have a good squad, we have good staff. The coach is perfect for me, so it’s the best place to be. I enjoy every day when I have the chance to wear this shirt. I try to give everything, and now I’ll give even more to this club and to the fans.”
Manager Mikel Arteta was equally full of praise for his defender, noting not just his quality on the pitch but also his character: “William is loved by all the players and staff, and that speaks volumes about his character, commitment and attitude every day. Since joining us, William has grown so much, embraced responsibility, and has created a strong connection with our supporters and everyone at the club.”
As things stand, Arsenal are second in the Premier League table, two points behind leaders Liverpool after six matches—a reminder that with Saliba at the back, the Gunners’ ambitions remain firmly set on challenging for silverware.
