Arsenal tie down another star: William Saliba signs four-year contract with Gunners.
William Saliba has extended his commitment to Arsenal with a new four-year contract, keeping him with the team through 2027.
Since admitting in September 2022 that Arsenal wanted to bind him to a contract for the foreseeable future, the 22-year-old has been discussing a new contract for a number of months.
Following the securing of Reiss Nelson, Arsenal has now disclosed the signing of Saliba to a new four-year contract. According to The Athletic, there is no release clause in the £10 million per season contract.
The 22-year-old has been a member of the Gunners since 2019, and although his contract was supposed to expire in 2024, he has now committed to staying with the club through 2027. However, Arsenal is not permitted to further extend the agreement.
Saliba played in 27 Premier League games as Mikel Arteta’s team finished second to Manchester City last year.
Jurrien Timber’s transfer to Arsenal from Ajax is also almost complete, but Arteta might see Saliba as a potential teammate for the Dutchman in 2023–24.

“We are so happy to have signed a new deal with William Saliba,” Edu, the club’s sporting director, said. “William is part of our vision to keep our talented young players, who will hopefully be successful with us for many years to come, so that we can grow and progress together. I know the supporters will be just as happy as we are to see William continue with us in the future.”
Arteta, who placed his faith in Saliba last summer when deciding to pair him alongside Gabriel Magalhaes, added: “To have William extend his contract with us was something we have wanted to do for a long time. William proved last season just how good and how important he is to our squad.
“The ability he has at his young age of just 22 is exciting, and there is of course so much more room for development with any player at this stage of their career. We’re looking forward to continuing to work with William in the years to come.”
Saliba will be looking to assist the Gunners in this season’s serious Premier League title challenge.
