Tiwa Savage, Simi, and Yemi Alade are three of the most prominent female artists in Nigeria. They’ve carved out a niche for themselves in a very competitive industry.

When they aren’t dominating the charts with their beautiful voices, they are being nominated for in many award ceremonies both locally and abroad.

    Journey

Every artist have a story of how their music career started and this is no different for Tiwa Savage, Simi and Yemi Alade.

Tiwa Savage went into Music during her secondary school days where she was a trombone player for her school’s orchestra band.

After graduating as an accountant and working for a Bank in the Uk, she started taking gigs as a backup vocalist for some famous singers.

Wanting to take music seriously, Savage enrolled at Berklee College of Music and graduated with a degree in professional music in 2007.

From there, her ambition saw her participate in the UK edition of The X Factor in 2006, sign a publishing deal with Sony/ATV Music Publishing in 2009, moving to Nigeria and signing with Mavin Records in 2012.

Her first official song, “Kele Kele” introduced her to her Nigerian audience who were mesmerized by her beauty and she released her debut album, ‘Once Upon a Time” in 2013.

Yemi Alade entered the spotlight after she took part in a TV talent show called Peak Talent Show where she emerged as the winner before she signed to Effyzzie Music Group.

Simi grew up dancing and singing as a member of her local church’s choir and wrote her first song at age 10. Her professional music career started in 2008 following the release of her debut studio album Ogaju, which was produced entirely by Samklef.

However, she switched to secular music and in January 2014 released the 5 track EP Restless, which eventually earned her a record deal with X3M Music.

Her second studio album, “Simisola” was met with favourable reviews.

    Musical Abilities

One thing anyone can agree about these beautiful women is that they are not just singers, but all-round musicians. Their ability to pass their message and evoke a listener’s emotions through any song is admirable.

Their skills have been refined like Gold being refined in the furnace, having several years of experiences to help them up their game in the Industry.

These are not just pretty faces but women with real talent that have gone head to head with other competitors and emerged victoriously.

While their genres have differences, no matter the field, they are killing and delivering.

    Consistency

Consistency is one of the biggest problems in the industry and only a few have been able to remain relevant in the industry for a long while.

For Tiwa Savage, Yemi Alade and Simi, consistency is definitely one admirable trait of their career.

The three of them have been in the industry for close to ten years, a time frame only artists like Olamide, Wizkid, Davido, 2Baba and a few others have been able to conquer.

Not only are they consistent in pushing their talents, but in also delivering hits, making them some of the Industry’s outstanding talents.

    Impact and Accolades

In terms of Impact, Tiwa Savage, Yemi Alade and Simi have achieved a lot in their various ways.

Apart from singing, Simi also doubles as a sound engineer. She is credited with mixing and mastering Adekunle Gold’s 2016 album, ‘Gold’. Not only that, she is has acquired several awards like The Headies, Soundcity MVP awards, The Future Awards, among others to her name

Over the years, Alade received multiple ambassadorial contracts and partnerships from different brands both locally and internationally. She was endorsed by brands like Luc Belaire, Glo, Maybelline, Shell and many more

While under Mavin records, Tiwa Savage was the first lady whose talents made her a goddess in the eye of many. But even before that, Tiwa Savage was already making name for herself as a talented songwriter.

In fact, her collaboration with Fantasia on the song “Collard Greens & Cornbread” earned the American recording artist a Grammy nomination in 2010.
