Nigerian artiste, Joseph Akinfenwa Donus, popularly known as Joeboy, has revealed why he was recently banned from performing in Saint Lucia.

The artist was expected to perform at an event on the Caribbean island nation, but his concert was cut short due to the use of profanity.

Joeboy’s most recent attempt to spread Afrobeats internationally, however, didn’t go as planned since he was stopped from performing due to what the organizers claimed was the use of profanity.

When his DJ used the “F” word to energize the audience, the hitmaker who was in St. Lucia to delight the fans was prevented from taking the stage.

The concert promoter was also criticized by Joeboy for being disrespectful and difficult to work with. He couldn’t stand Joeboy’s accusation that he was insulting his team.

Although the specifics of what happened between the event’s organizers and Joeboy’s crew are mostly unclear, it is well-known that musicians frequently use profanity, especially when performing. It seems odd that Joeboy would be barred from performing because of his usage of the “F word.”

On May 14, Joeboy described what transpired in an Instagram post, calling him a sincere blunder he was not aware of.

“Saint Lucia, I travelled over 40 hours to be with you guys and I was super excited to be performing here for the first time in St Lucia. However, I couldn’t perform today due to issues with the organisers. I tried my best to give you the best performance today but my set was cut off and my DJ was taken off the stage.

My DJ was taken off because he said “Make some f**king noise”. We were not cursing on stage. My DJ immediately apologised to the crowd but his Mic was cut off. I was still willing to perform but I was told I couldn’t and one of the promoters threatened to call security on us and also get us arrested. It was later decided that I couldn’t perform.

To my fans in St Lucia, I will certainly come back for you.

    Pondeck”
