Nigerian Afropop star Ayra Starr has revealed who she would love to work for if she ever had to take on an internship, and her choice is none other than global music and fashion icon Rihanna.

The singer, born Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, shared the revelation while appearing on Roc Nation’s The Intern series. During the conversation, she spoke about the creative inspiration behind her song ‘Where Do We Go,’ explaining that the track was influenced by a personal relationship and the uncertainty of whether to keep things private or make it public.

According to Ayra Starr, the song reflects the emotional tension that comes with navigating love in the spotlight, especially when deciding how much of a relationship should be shared with the world.

“‘Where Do We Go’ is inspired by a private relationship. Are we going to stay hidden or come out to the world? I’m kind of like in the middle so like where do we go. If I have to intern for anyone it would be Rihanna. I would get the coffee. Anything she wants me to do, I will do it,” she said.

The Grammy-nominated singer also made it clear that if the opportunity ever came to work under Rihanna—even in the most basic capacity she would gladly take it. Her admiration for the Barbadian superstar, who has successfully built a global empire spanning music, fashion, and beauty, was evident throughout the conversation.

Ayra Starr has quickly become one of the leading voices in the new generation of Afrobeats artists, and moments like this show that even rising global stars still look up to icons who paved the way.
