American talk show host Steve Harvey has defended Nigerian Grammy winner Burna Boy against accusations of stealing from American music genres.

Harvey asserted that it is actually the West, particularly America, that draws inspiration from African beats, rhythm, and soul, as exemplified by Burna Boy and other African artists.

Harvey shared this insight while participating as a panelist on a television program, underscoring the unity between Africans and Black Americans.

He expressed, “They talk about ‘Burna Boy stole this’, no, we stole from Burna Boy. Them Africans are us. Africans embody the beats, soul, rhythm, and hard work. We derive our courage from them. When you see those people, they resemble your own family.”

Recall, Mp3bullet reported that Burna Boy has solidified his position as one of the world’s most prominent musicians, aiming to reshape the global perception of African music.

In a recent interview with Vincent Desmond for the Financial Times, Burna Boy shared his vision behind the international appeal of his music. With four nominations at the 66th Grammy Awards, Burna Boy made history as the first Nigerian lead artist nominated outside of the global category and the inaugural African artist to perform at the main ceremony.
