One Naira is a collaboration between rapper, M.I Abaga and Waje, and was released in 2010 of his “MI2 the Movie” album.

Waje said that after M.I rejected the different choruses she had written for the song, M.I told to think of someone she would give everything up for.

She said she immediately thought of her mother who was a selfless woman who had sacrificed everything for her and wrote the chorus that years after people will still sing.

The real inspiration behind one naira. After writing choruses Mi wasn’t feeling, he said “ think of someone you’ll give everything up for” and I thought of this selfless woman who sacrificed everything and wrote a chorus that years after people still sing.
