Bayern Munich Extend Vincent Kompany’s Contract Until 2029 After Stellar Start

Bayern Munich have officially confirmed a contract extension for head coach Vincent Kompany, rewarding the Belgian tactician for his impressive impact since taking charge of the Bundesliga giants.
The announcement, made via the club’s website on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, comes as Bayern continue a dominant run in the new season, winning their first seven Bundesliga matches and reigniting belief in their trademark attacking football under Kompany’s guidance.
Under his leadership, the Bavarian champions have rediscovered consistency and intensity, a shift that has not gone unnoticed by the club hierarchy.
The new deal keeps Kompany at the helm until June 30, 2029, extending his stay by two more years beyond his previous contract, which was due to expire in 2027.
Speaking about the extension, Kompany expressed both pride and focus on the club’s immediate ambitions.
“My focus is a bit mixed at the moment. I just want to win tomorrow [against Brugge]. Of course I’m happy, but for now I want 3 points in the next game. I have the feeling I’ve been here longer than 16-17 months. I understand how the club thinks, but also the players. We have the same goals. I have a lot of respect for the past of this club. I just want to contribute to having a similarly successful future as well. I want to write history together, where people say: This is Bayern, and that we’re proud of that.”

Club president Herbert Hainer described the move as a “strong vote of confidence” in the 39-year-old’s project, noting that continuity and stability remain key to Bayern’s success.
“Vincent Kompany is held in high regard by the players, the club management and the fans. We are happy about the early extension of our cooperation,” Hainer said.
Bayern’s Director of Sport, Max Eberl, also praised Kompany’s influence both on and off the pitch, highlighting his leadership qualities and unity-driven approach.
“When we appointed Vinny, we had a clear vision of our shared path and he quickly proved that he can help FC Bayern move forward — both on and off the pitch. He is a role model who unites players, fans and everyone at the club, and we want to build something long-term with him.”
Kompany’s renewed deal underscores Bayern’s confidence in his long-term vision, one that blends discipline, tactical innovation, and a culture of unity. With early results already validating the club’s faith in him, the former Manchester City captain now looks set to shape a new chapter in Bayern’s illustrious history.
