Legal Showdown: Verydarkman Claims Court Blocks Arrest Warrant in Mercy Chinwo Defamation Case

Nigerian social media critic Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as Verydarkman (VDM), has unveiled new twists in his ongoing legal battle with gospel singer Mercy Chinwo.
In a video shared online on Thursday, March 27, 2025, VDM asserted that a Federal High Court had intervened, issuing a restraining order to halt proceedings at the Magistrate Court.
This came after the Chief Magistrate Court in Wuse Zone 6, Abuja, had earlier issued a bench warrant for his arrest over alleged “criminal defamation” against the Wonder crooner. Law enforcement agencies were instructed to apprehend him and bring him before the court to answer the allegations.
The lawsuit originated from VDM’s alleged defamatory remarks on social media, which Mercy Chinwo claimed were both false and damaging to her reputation. She also sought a court order to bar him from making further statements about her online.
However, VDM has now presented a letter dated March 27, 2025, which he claims directs the Magistrate Court to suspend all legal actions against him, including the arrest warrant. In his video, he confidently praised his legal team while taking jabs at others entangled in legal battles with him.
This latest twist has ignited widespread debate on social media, leaving many eager to see how the courtroom drama unfolds.
