UCL: Pep Guardiola reveals the real reason he didn’t play Haaland against Copenhagen.
Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has given an explanation for why he did not bring Erling Haaland off the bench during their 0-0 draw with FC Copenhagen.
In a dramatic first half for the Premier League champions, Riyad Mahrez missed a penalty and Sergio Gomez was dismissed.
However, Guardiola opted not to bring the red-hot Haaland after the break.

Speaking after the game, Guardiola said: “He finished the game against Southampton so, so tired and didn’t recover well. Yesterday was not good, today a little better but not perfect so we decide not to take the risk.”
After Sevilla later failed to defeat Borussia Dortmund, the draw still ensured City’s place in the round of 16.
