Musa Keys & Tyla make RIAA class of 2024
The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) has unveiled its Class of 2024 inductees, featuring 67 artists from diverse genres and countries who achieved their first platinum or gold certifications this year.
Among them are South African stars Tyla and Musa Keys, who made history with their remarkable accomplishments.
Tyla earned platinum certification for her hit single ‘Water,’ which gained massive traction in the U.S. The remix, featuring Travis Scott, peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100, establishing her as the highest-charting solo female African artist on the chart.
Her self-titled debut album also secured a gold certification, along with the single ‘Truth or Dare,’ which achieved gold status as well.
2024 proved to be a landmark year for Tyla, who swept major awards, dominating the Afrobeats categories at the VMAs, BET Awards, and Billboard Music Awards. She also made history as the inaugural winner of the Grammys’ *African Song Performance* category.
Musa Keys secured his first RIAA gold plaque through his collaboration with Davido on the hit single ‘Unavailable.’ The track became a global sensation, further cementing his reputation as one of South Africa’s leading music exports.

The inclusion of Tyla and Musa Keys highlights African talent among a prestigious list that features global artists such as:
