Twitter reinstates Kanye West’s profile after 7 month-long ban.
Kanye West, the renowned musician, has recently seen his Twitter account formally reinstated after it was suspended last year.
This suspension resulted from numerous policy violations that occurred during his frequent Twitter outbursts. In December 2023, the rapper faced a seven-month suspension for inciting violence following an anti-Semitic outburst.
Prior to this, Kanye had encountered issues on Twitter when his account was locked, along with his Instagram account, two months earlier due to his initial anti-Semitic rant, which was subsequently deleted on both platforms.
These controversies also led to the loss of sponsorships and brand relationships, including his termination by Adidas, which explicitly stated its intolerance for anti-Semitism and hate speech.
His last post before being censored in December displayed a symbol that appeared to be a hybrid of the Swastika and the Star of David. According to the Wall Street Journal, Kanye will no longer be able to monetize his account, and advertisements will not be displayed alongside his posts.
The reinstated status of his account as an official business account is denoted by a golden verification tick, distinct from the blue one. Currently, he has 31.5 million followers, with his most recent post dating back to December 1, just before his account was deleted.
According to his latest post, his account was reinstated after he provided assurances that he would refrain from disseminating inflammatory language or anti-Semitic content on the platform. Despite the recovery of his account a few days ago, Kanye has yet to make any new posts.
