Dramatic! Tottenham 1-4 Chelsea: Jackson’s hat-trick sees 9-man Spurs first loss
Tottenham Hotspur’s hopes of returning to the top of the Premier League table were dashed in extraordinary fashion as they went down 4-1 at home to Chelsea in a chaotic London derby.
It was a triumphant return for Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino, who faced his former club. The match featured numerous dramatic moments, including a hat trick by Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson and three red cards.
Tottenham took an early lead with a goal from Dejan Kulusevski, but they had a second goal disallowed for offside shortly after. The game took a turn when Cristian Romero was sent off for a dangerous tackle, resulting in a penalty for Chelsea, which was converted by Cole Palmer. Spurs also lost two players to injury, and Destiny Udogie received a second yellow card, leaving the team with nine men.
Chelsea eventually capitalized on their numerical advantage, with Jackson scoring to put them ahead. Tottenham had an equalizing goal ruled out for offside, and Jackson added two more goals in stoppage time, securing a 4-1 victory for Chelsea.
The result left Tottenham in second place in the Premier League with 26 points, one behind leaders Manchester City. Chelsea climbed to 10th place with 15 points.
