The global popularity of the Afrobeat genre has turned music into one of Nigeria’s most valuable exports, with Nigerian artists continuously receiving awards and appearing on top music charts around the world.
Nigerian musicians have also conquered and performed in some of the world’s most prestigious music venues.
Burna Boy is set to become the first artist to shut down Madison Square Garden in New York.

Mp3bullet.ng compiled a list of Top International Locations Nigerian Artists have performed.
The Royal Albert Hall, London
The Royal Albert Hall is a concert hall in London’s South Kensington neighbourhood. It is one of the most important and distinctive structures in the United Kingdom.
The hall has a capacity of 5,272 persons. The world’s top entertainers from a variety of performance genres have appeared on the hall’s stage since it was opened by Queen Victoria in 1871.
The main theatre hosts about 390 performances each year, including classical, rock, and pop concerts, ballet, opera, cinema screenings with live orchestral accompaniment, sports, award ceremonies, school and community events, and charity events and banquets.
Wizkid made international headlines in 2017 when he became the first Afrobeat musician to perform a sold-out show at the Albert Hall.
Coachella Festival, California
The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival (also known as Coachella or the Coachella Festival) is a music and arts festival held every year at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California.
The festival includes musical acts from a variety of genres, including rock, pop, indie, hip hop, and electronic dance music, as well as art installations and sculptures.
Coachella features well-known and established musical artists, as well as newcomers and reunited ensembles. It is one of the world’s largest, most well-known, and financially successful music events.
Each Coachella festival held between 2013 and 2015 set new attendance and revenue records. The 2017 event drew 250,000 people and generated $114.6 million in revenue.
Nigerian artists that have performed at the festival include Seun Kuti & the Egypt 80 band, Burna Boy and Mr Eazi. Wizkid was billed to perform in 2018 but he missed the event due to visa issues.
The O2 Arena, London
The O2 Arena is a multi-purpose indoor arena in the heart of the Greenwich Peninsula’s O2 entertainment complex in southeast London.
It has the second-highest seating capacity of any indoor facility in the United Kingdom, behind the Manchester Stadium, with 20,000 seats, and as of 2020, the O2 Arena was still the world’s busiest music arena in terms of ticket sales.
Similar to the Manchester Arena, the seating configuration across the arena may be changed. The ground surface can also be changed between the ice rink, basketball court, exhibition space, conference venue, private hire venue and concert venue.
The arena was designed to decrease echoing, which is a major problem in London concert venues.
Wizkid made history by being the first African artist to sell out the O2 Arena twice, first in 2018 at the AfroRepublik concert held in the arena and then in 2019 during the Starboy Fest and 2021 during which he held a three days events.
Other artists that have performed at the arena include Burna Boy, Tiwa Savage, Davido who also sold out the arena in 2019 and 2022 and a host of other Nigerian artists.
Hollywood Bowl
The Hollywood Bowl is an amphitheatre in the Hollywood Hills neighbourhood of Los Angeles, California. It was named one of the 10 best live music venues in America by Rolling Stone magazine in 2018.
The Hollywood Bowl is known for its distinctive band shell, originally a set of concentric arches that graced the site from 1929 through 2003, before being replaced with a larger one to begin the 2004 season. The shell is set against the backdrop of the Hollywood Hills and the famous Hollywood Sign to the northeast.
The “bowl” refers to the shape of the concave hillside the amphitheatre is carved into. The Bowl is owned by the County of Los Angeles and is the home of the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, the summer home of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and the host venue to hundreds of musical events each year.
In 2021, Burna Boy was the first African Artist to host an event at the Hollywood Bowl as part of his global Space Drift Arena Tour.
Femi Kuti alongside his Positive Force Band would also be performing at the prestigious event arena for its 100th Anniversary celebration alongside heavyweights like The Roots, Christian Scott, and a slew of others
