In the month of May, a social media challenge came up titled the Shedi Bala Bala.

Created by DJ Baslit and Hypeman Bobby Banks, the song which isn’t exactly a proper song caused a frenzy on social media thanks to its catchy beat and lyrics.

The song, however, drew the ire of other women, who claimed the lyrics were slut-shaming and degrading to women.

In 2021, South African rising act, Focalistic enlisted Davido on the remix of his song, “Ke Star”. Davido’s verse made the song popular among Nigerian music lovers who drew two catchy slangs from it.

While “Beta Rest” is mostly a way most people recognize the song, “It goes down when my G’s connect” is more popular as it expresses how friendship make things interesting.

In fact, almost every part of Davido’s verse has in one birthed a slang.

    I See I Saw

There are songs that have become popular as a result of a part of it going viral on social media and this was the case of “Looseguard (I See I Saw)”.

The artist whose name is Legendary Styles had released the song at first on audiomack when people came across and decided to use it as a form of humour and from there the song became popular even on Tik-Tok,

Just like most viral songs, the simple but catchy lyrics spoken in both English and Igbo and layered on a drill beat made it enjoyable and attractive.

    Ma Lo Fe Broke N*gga

    Olamide - Rock mp3
    Olamide – Rock

Olamide is the king of Slangs, he is undisputed when it comes to that area.

Although for a while, he has been popularizing any slang as result of him getting comfortable with his newly re-defined sound, all that changed on “Rock“.

The song is a groovy mid-tempo tune but the interesting part of it is its catchy lyrics. The lyrics are easy to sing along to.

The part of the lyrics that have been a popular saying on social media is the where he sings; “Ma lo fe broke nigga, fight for your life”

The statement has been seen as a piece of advice to women to make proper choices when it comes to picking a partner and to make sure to consider finances above all.
