These are the top 5 Nigerian albums/EPs of the first quarter of 2022.

We have come to the end of the first quarter of the year and here are the top 5 Nigerian albums/EPs of the first quarter of the year 2022, Nigerian musicians have been churning out albums back to back since the beginning of this decade.

The first quarter of the year is the first 3 months, which implies from January to March, but Mp3bullet will add April to the list because some albums drop during the month of April.

Top 5 Nigerian albums of the first quarter of 2022

    1. Asa – V

Asa released V on February 25, 2022, a style shift into a more mainstream type of African Pop music while still maintaining the high-calibre musicality/musicianship, subtle vocalizations, and appropriate use of space and technique for which she is known.

Asa grows in terms of style, lyricism, and technical ability.

    2. Rema – Rave & Roses

Rema, Nigeria’s most talented singer and songwriter, releases his long-awaited body of work, Rave and Roses, in the year 2022 through Mavin /Jonzing Records.

Remmy Boy uses this body of work to highlight his attitude and tenacity in the Entertainment Industry, describing his music genre as “Afrorave.”

    3. BOJ – Gbagada Express

As soon as Afrobeats achieves global dominance, spin-offs follow closely behind. Take, for example, alté, a Nigerian movement that appears to be an alternative to mainstream West African roots music and R&B fusions.

Despite features from some of Afrobeats’ biggest names, including Davido, Tiwa Savage, Wizkid, and Mr Eazi, the debut album by Bo, a British Nigerian who has been dubbed a founder of the scene, does not feel as experimental as its predecessors, but it does feel less flashy and more mellow than its predecessors.

    4. Asake – Ololade EP

Asake has a distinct style that is simple to recognize. On closer inspection, however, it’s difficult to pinpoint exactly what he represents.

He has a slightly deeper voice than Bella Shmurda, Zinoleesky, Barry Jhay, and others who emerged from the post-Fuji streets.

    5. Terri – In Transit EP

Terri is well aware that he is still not where most people want him to be, as seen by the EP’s title.

Terri, as an artist found and mentored by one of Africa’s most recognized artists, should be well ahead of where he is at this point in his career.

He is well aware of this and has taken care not to succumb to the pressure. It’s hardly surprising that he avoided a project with a lot of stars, given his talent and versatility.

‘In Transit’ is just his way of admitting that he’s still on his way to the top.
