Nigerian songs which ranked on Google most searched songs for 2022
Google recently released the list of the most searched Nigerian songs for 2022 and Mp3bullet.ng has made a list on that note.
The Nigerian Music Industry despite the many tragedies and challenges it faced this year managed to serenade the hearts of listeners with great tunes.
Many of these songs found their way to the top o the charts, immediately becoming hits and dominating the airwaves.

1. Buga – Kizz Daniel ft Tekno
In May, Kizz Daniel took the Nigerian music industry by storm when he released “Buga” featuring another Afropop singer, Tekno.
The song became a hit immediately after its release, topped several charts and also made its way outside the country becoming another Afrobeat song to dominate the international music scene. Its no surprise that it is the most searched Nigerian song on Google.
2. Overdose – Mavins, Crayon, Ayra Starr, Ladipoe, Magixx and Boy Spyce
Don Jazzy and his new generation Mavin stars banded together to create the magic they titled “Overdose“. Released in June, the song found success on the music scene and was produced by Don Jazzy.
The song was the lead single for their collaborative album, “Chapter X” which was released in December.
3. Machala – Carterefe ft Berri Tiga
2022 is a year that saw a lot of entertainers go into music which is why it wasn’t too much of a surprise when Instagram skit maker, Carterefe decided to enter the music industry but he smartly did it with a song dedicated to Nigeria’s biggest superstar, Wizkid.
While Caterefe didn’t sing the song, his featured artist Berri Tiga did a great job of giving the song the needed spice to make it an afrobeat hit. While Wizkid didn’t say anything about the song, it found favour among his fans.
The resulting scandal from the online fight between Carterefe and Berri Tiga helped boost the song to popularity.
4. Calm Down – Rema
Rema made his make this 2022 with “Calm Down” his first single for the year. The song was the first single to be released from his debut album, “Raves and Roses“.
The soothing Caribbean-infused song “Calm Down” made waves in Nigeria and outside the country and even bagged certifications from various countries.
A remix collaboration with Selena Gomex gave the song an extra boost in its popularity.
5. Rush – Ayra Starr
Ayra Starr has come so far since her entrance into the Industry in 2021. After an EP, a debut album which shortly followed it and a deluxe, the singer decided to up her game in 2022 with “Rush“.
The fashionista made a hit with “Rush” and just like “Bloody Samaritan“, it became a Tik-Tok viral song.
6. Terminator – Asake
Asake is one of 2022’s biggest winners, releasing back-to-back hit songs to keep fans fully fed. While he has many hit songs, “Terminator” seemed to have gotten more attention from fans who searched for it on Google.
One reason for this could be the fact that Asake delayed its release and was forced to release it when it was leaked.
7. Girlfriend – Ruger
Ruger this year released the deluxe version of his second EP, “The Second Wave” which had three songs added to it. “Girlfriend” one of the songs gained a lot of attention for many reasons, some of it being the boppy beat and its toxic like lyrics.
8. Finesse – Pheelz ft BNXN
What started as a snippet turned into one of the biggest songs of 2022. “Finesse” is Pheelz’s breakthrough song that solidified his decision to transition from being a producer to singing. The song’s simple but groovy beat and its catchy lyrics are some of the contributing factors to the song being on this list.

9. How are you my friend – Johnny Drille
Produced by Don Jazzy, “How Are You” (My Friend)” is a song of hope and Assurance that quickly warmed its way into the hearts of listeners after its release.
10. Cough – Kizz Daniel
After the success of “Buga”, Kizz Daniel released “Cough” which also became a hit. The song is a collaborative effort between him and his distribution label, Empire.
