Real Madrid confirm Toni Kroos contract decision.
Real Madrid have announced Toni Kroos has signed a contract extension to keep him at the club until 2024.
After signing Jude Bellingham for £113 million this week, competition for spots in Madrid’s midfield is tough, but the Spanish giants have been desperate to maintain hold of Kroos, and he has now signed a new contract.
On Wednesday, Madrid shared the news on social media with the phrase “The Story Continues.”
Kroos joined Real Madrid in 2014 after winning the Champions League with Bayern Munich the year before.
He has since won European football’s most prestigious prize four times with Los Blancos during a great spell for the club.
Under Zinedine Zidane, Madrid won the Champions League three times in a row, in 2016, 2017, and 2018.
Kroos has also won La Liga and the Copa del Rey on three occasions each, plus the Club World Cup five times with Madrid.
Across nine seasons at Madrid, Kroos has played 417 games, becoming a mainstay in their midfield.
He turned 33 in January but is still going strong alongside team-mate Luka Modric, who will be 38 in September.
Modric’s future has been uncertain in recent weeks, with his contract set to expire at the end of the month, but he is set to sign a new contract after reportedly turning down a hefty offer from Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal.
In the middle of the park, Madrid have an abundance of riches, with Carlo Ancelotti now able to rely on Bellingham, Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni, and Fede Valverde as the next generation of Madrid players emerges.
But Kroos wants to show that he can still contribute to the team in his tenth season at the Bernabeu.
