Queen of Afrobeat, Tiwa Savage had her third studio album, ‘Celia’ selected by Time Magazine as one of their 10 best albums of 2020.

In an article posted on their website on Friday the 27th, the publication listed the popstar’s album as number ten on their selection of diverse albums from around the world.

Describing the album, Time Magazine says “the latest album from Savage, a Nigerian singer-songwriter who many call the “Queen of Afrobeats,” is characterized by an infectious buoyancy”.

“A veteran of the American, British, and Nigerian music industries, Savage has an innate understanding of how various strains of music from the Black diaspora fit together, so R&B, rap, Afrobeats, and global pop coalesce seamlessly on the record.

Savage’s featherweight and precise voice, flips fluidly between English and Yoruba, while bright horn sections drift in and out.

She also shows off an alluring chemistry with an array of artists, from Sam Smith to Davido to Naira Marley.

Celia was listed alongside albums like Lil Uzert’s ‘Eternal Atake, Grimes ‘Miss Anthropocene,’ Chloe x Halle ‘Ungodly Hour,’ Taylor Swift’s ‘Folklore’ among others.

A jubilant Tiwa Savage posted a screenshot of ‘Celia’ featured on Time Magazine, on her social media with the caption; “I doubted many things but one thing I knew for sure was what a beautiful body of work myself and everyone involved created. We created MAGIC.”

Quoting a Bible verse, she then went ahead to give thanks to God saying, “Soooo many projects dropped this year all over the world and TIME MAGAZINE picked #CELIA as one of their top 10 albums released this year. Ope ni fun Eledumare”

Celia was released on the 27th of August this year and is a 13-track album named after her mother and dedicated to phenomenal women.
