Tiwa Savage Reveals Soundtrack for Debut Film ‘Water & Garri’ feat. Olamide and Others
Nigerian artist Tiwa Savage has set the stage for an exciting double treat for her fans with the announcement of her upcoming debut film, “Water & Garri,” alongside its accompanying soundtrack. Ahead of the film’s premiere on Amazon Prime, the Afrobeats superstar unveiled the full tracklist for the official soundtrack on Monday (April 29).
The soundtrack offers a broad collection of ten tracks featuring a star-studded guest roster. The soundtrack, which will be released on the same day as the film by Empire Records, has collaborations with musicians including Asa, The Cavemen, Olamide, Mystro Suga, Reekado Banks, Young Jonn, Black Sheriff, Ayra Starr, Richard Bona, and Zacardi Cortez.
With production handled by Blaise Beatz, P. Prime, and Magic Sticks, Tiwa Savage’s upcoming ventures signal an exciting chapter in her career, offering a blend of cinematic and musical delights for her fans and audiences alike.
It’s worth noting that the “Water & Garri” soundtrack is distinct from Savage’s 2021 EP of the same name, which received acclaim for its collaborations with Nas, Rich King, Amaarae, Brandy, and Tay Iwar, earning praise from Pharrell Williams as “a classic.”
Directed by Meji Alabi, “Water & Garri” follows the story of Aisha (portrayed by Savage), an ambitious fashion designer returning to her native country after a decade in the U.S. in the wake of a family tragedy. As she navigates through changed dynamics and confronts past demons, the film explores themes of identity, reconciliation, and resilience.
Mike Afolarin, Andrew Bunting, and Jemima Osunde star alongside Savage, and the filming takes place in Cape Coast, Ghana. Savage, Vannessa Amadi-Ogbonna, Jimi Adesanya, and Meji Alabi serve as executive producers on the project. “Water & Garri” will be released on Prime Video on May 10, reaching audiences in over 240 countries and territories worldwide.
