How I ditched acting for music because of a guy – Tiwa Savage
Tiwa Savage, the Afrobeats sensation, opened up about the inspiration behind her musical journey.
The “Koroba” singer revealed that initially, her dream was to pursue acting. However, her path shifted towards music due to a crush she had on a man who was often surrounded by musicians.
In a recent interview with MTV, she shared that her crush’s proximity to the music scene led her to forsake her initial passion for acting and dive into the world of music.
Savage said, “I have always wanted to do acting. Acting was one of my first loves before music. I got into music because I had a crush on a guy and he was always around the musician so I said ‘yeah, forget acting and just go into music.’”
Recall, Tiwa Savage has embraced her boss lady persona by returning to her first love: acting. Her latest film, “Water and Garri,” is set to premiere on Prime Video on May 10, 2024.
In an interview with ABC, she explored the global impact of Afrobeat on pop culture, highlighting its widespread influence. Tiwa Savage also delved into her passion for acting, revealing it as her initial love, and expressed her delight in rediscovering the craft. She described her upcoming film as a significant milestone, symbolizing a full-circle moment in her career.
She said, “Executive producing was like me just putting my boss hat on and trying to be a boss lady in all aspects of my life. It was fun and it was stressful doing that and also starring in it. But it just showed me that I can do anything I put my mind to. There are so many things that I have dreams of accomplishing and now I’m really motivated”.
“I’ve always wanted to do acting. I’ve always wanted to do movies. Actually, that was my first love before music. So it felt like a full circle moment for me. I just felt it was time for me to finally get into that. I never wanted to let go of music, so it’s a great way for me to still embody that.”
