Tiwa Savage has finally decided to speak her truth about her much-talked-about fallout with fellow singer Seyi Shay.
This rift once dominated headlines and stirred conversations across the Nigerian music scene.

In a candid chat on the OffAir with Gbemi & Toolz podcast, the Afrobeats queen opened up about her viral 2021 confrontation with Seyi Shay inside a Lagos salon, a heated moment fans still recall vividly.
For the first time, Tiwa laid bare what triggered that explosive encounter and addressed long-standing whispers that she’s been secretly blocking opportunities for other women in the industry.
According to her, the tension had been brewing long before that day, sparked by a track she believed was a jab at her. “I’m not going to pretend like we’re cool in the salon when you’ve done a diss track about me,” she said honestly. “That was huge. It was painful.”
Beyond the personal drama, Tiwa used the moment to shut down persistent rumours that she has worked behind the scenes to hinder the success of other female artists, such as Seyi Shay and Victoria Kimani. With her trademark confidence, she challenged anyone making such claims to come with proof.
“If you’ve heard that I blocked someone’s bag, say their name. Let’s talk about it,” she said firmly. “I’m very pro-women. I love seeing other women win. It doesn’t take anything from me.”
To drive her point home, the Somebody’s Son hitmaker recalled a painful but ironic experience. After giving birth to her son, Jamil, she said she lost a lucrative endorsement because she couldn’t return to work quickly enough, only for the brand to hire Seyi Shay as her replacement.
“When I got pregnant and had Jamil, I was taken off a Pepsi campaign because I couldn’t bounce back in time, and Seyi was booked instead,” she revealed. “So how am I the one stopping other people’s bags?”
Tiwa wrapped up her reflections with a call for honesty and accountability in the entertainment space. She urged artists to name names when spreading rumors or accusations. “The only way we can deal with this is if people call them out. But nobody wants to,” she concluded.
Her no-holds-barred comments have once again put the spotlight on her long-running feud with Seyi Shay, reigniting conversations about female rivalry, transparency, and respect within Nigeria’s vibrant music industry.
