    These thugs according to a video trending on Twitter were seen alighting from a BRT bus armed with cutlasses and attacking the protesters.

    They were allegedly sent by the popular leader of NURTW, Mc Oloumo while other rumors have it that they were sponsored by the Speaker of the Lagos House of Assembly, Hon Obasa.

    Nigerians artists alongside Nigerians have condemned the attack, calling it cowardice.

    Tiwa Savage wrote;

    “Close colleagues of mine at Alausa just confirmed that thugs just came to disrupt their peaceful protest. Please spread the word. Our right to peaceful protest will not be taken away. Why use violence against peaceful protestors?”

    She further made it clear that the protest won’t stop because of a sponsored attack;

    “I’m hearing these thugs are being sponsored. We will not be silenced. EVEN THOUGH THE SAFETY OF PROTESTORS IS PARAMOUNT. WE WILL NOT STOP”

    Yemi Alade wrote,

    “We can never understand, Armed thugs in a government owned bus, fighting the same youth trying to change the narrative, what a shame.”

    While Praiz accused the Government of being behind the attack,

    “The Government is clearly bankrolling these thugs.”

    While Don Jazzy slammed the police for watching as the thugs assaulted the protesters without doing anything;

    “Look at the so called police standing by idle as mobilized armed touts came to butcher innocent Nigerians in front of the Governors office in lagos.”

    Everything wrong with this country didn't go bad with time. It was weaponized, deliberately! From lack of education to the extreme case of poverty. Keep the masses mute. This can only be how to get thugs to attack a protest that's of benefit to them. #EndSWAT #AlausaProtest

    How can someone pay you to come disrupt a movement that is for your own benefit? My goodness, this thing called Poverty, Unemployment, etc, it is such a deadly disease! Oh Nigeria, what are we gonna do about you! #EndSARS #EndSWAT
