American news magazine TIME has announced Wizkid’s ‘Essence (Remix)’ as its second-best song for the year 2021.

According to Wikipedia, Time is an American news magazine and news website published and based in New York City. For nearly a century, it was published weekly, but by March 2020 it had switched to once every two weeks.

The huge hit, dubbed “song of the summer,” featured Nigerian talented songstress Tems, and was released in October 2020 as part of Wizkid’s “Made In Lagos” album.

Due to the global acceptance of the song, Starboy decided to drop a deluxe version of the ‘Made in Lagos’ album which also had the remix of the smash tune ‘Essence’ featuring Tems and Canadian superstar Justin Bieber.

“Essence,” which was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2022 for “Best Global Music Performance,” has been performing well all year.

As the buzz continues, the iconic American new magazine has ranked it as its second-best song of the year, behind ‘Pepas‘ by Farruko.

Taylor Swift’s “All Too Well (Taylor’s Version)” was third on the list, followed by Lucy Dacus’ “VBS,” Yoasobi’s “Monster,” City Girls’ “Twerkulator,” Olivia Rodrigo’s “Good 4 U,” El Alfa’s “La Mama de La Mama,” Morgan Wade’s “Wilder Days,” and Doja Cat’s “Woman.”
