Throwback video reveals Ceeza Milli’s claim to writing Burna Boy’s ‘On The Low’
A resurfaced throwback video from 2019 has reignited debate in the music industry, featuring Nigerian singer Ceeza Milliclaiming he wrote 80 percent of Burna Boy’s hit song “On The Low.”
This assertion contradicts Burna Boy’s previous denial of using songwriters, where he insisted that those credited as songwriters on his tracks are actually producers, citing Western music policies.
In a recent statement, Burna Boy reiterated, “Any name you see credited on my songs are only producers of the songs or featured artists, not writers. But for some reason, the western world considers producers as writers of the instrumentals and they just throw their names on there as writers. Nobody fit write for Odogwu.”
Ceeza Milli’s claim has raised questions about Burna Boy’s songwriting process. In the video, Ceeza Milli is seen in an interview taking credit for the majority of “On The Low,” challenging Burna Boy’s narrative.
Previously, Burna Boy had refuted claims by Logos Olori, a signee of Davido, that he uses songwriters. The resurfacing of Ceeza Milli’s video has sparked a heated debate among fans, with some defending Burna Boy’s stance while others question the authenticity of his songwriting credits.
This controversy highlights the ongoing discussion about songwriting credits and the role of producers in the music industry.
