Erik ten Hag is no longer concerned about his future at Manchester United following Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s takeover.
Erik ten Hag has conveyed his calmness regarding his job security at Manchester United, despite the recent takeover by Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS.
The Dutch tactician expressed his enthusiasm for the prospect of working with the new co-owners following the announcement of Ratcliffe’s acquisition of a 25% stake in the club for a reported $1.3 billion.
Despite facing pressure due to Manchester United’s inconsistent form this season, Ten Hag remains optimistic about the new collaboration. He shared his anticipation for upcoming discussions and meetings with the new investors in the coming days, indicating a positive outlook on his future at the club.
Speaking to reporters, Ten Hag said: “As you said, the schedule is so condensed, so I haven’t had the time so far to speak with them, but it will come, and I look forward [to it]. They want to work with me, and I want to work with them. We will have the conversations, the meetings, so we will see.
“Listen, I’m focused on the games so far. So, as I said, at this moment, I don’t want to have distractions but in the coming days, and weeks, there will be time for this and then I will know more. But I think it’s a good thing, it’s very positive, we are really looking forward to working together. INEOS wants to work with me, with this infrastructure, and I want to work with them.”
Reports suggest that Manchester United cannot dismiss Erik ten Hag without the consent of INEOS following Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s takeover. Major sporting decisions, including transfers, must reportedly be approved by Ratcliffe’s group. Despite this, there are plans for a significant overhaul at Old Trafford, potentially resulting in job losses for hundreds of workers.
Manchester United’s narrow 3-2 victory over Aston Villa in their last Premier League outing provided some relief for Ten Hag, easing the pressure on him. However, his role is expected to face renewed scrutiny if the team encounters challenges on the road against Nottingham Forest in their upcoming match on Saturday evening.
