Mr P breaks silence on P-Square split, solo joy and Embracing His Path

Nigerian music icon Peter Okoye, better known as Mr P, is stepping into his truth — and he’s doing it solo. In a heartfelt interview with Cool FM Lagos, the singer-songwriter opened up about the emotional and creative clarity that came with parting ways (again) with his twin brother and musical partner, Paul Okoye (Rudeboy), officially marking a new chapter away from their legendary duo, P-Square.
“There’s a joy that comes with going solo,” Mr P said with calm conviction. “Please respect our decisions. We’ve tried it; it’s not working.” His words weren’t bitter, but honest — a statement layered with years of highs, tension, and personal evolution.
This revelation follows Paul’s public confirmation that P-Square had once again disbanded, reigniting debates among fans who still hold onto the nostalgia of their early 2000s dominance.
First separating in 2016, reuniting briefly in 2021, and now, seemingly closing that chapter for good, the brothers have weathered their share of public scrutiny and private tension.
But for Mr P, it’s no longer about reliving the past — it’s about protecting peace and embracing growth. “This is about self-respect and mental health,” he seemed to suggest with every word.
And while some fans still hope for another comeback, both Peter and Paul are charting their lanes, creatively and personally.
As Mr P continues to build his solo discography and brand, the message is clear: the legacy of P-Square will always be legendary — but the man behind Mr P is ready to thrive on his own terms.
