Burna Boy throws epic shade at Davido’s fan amidst Grammy criticism
Burna Boy once again stirred up social media with his recent comments, igniting a discussion on Twitter after throwing shade at fellow artist Davido in response to a fan’s criticism, labeling him a “joke.”
In the aftermath of Nigeria’s football match against Ivory Coast at the AFCON finals, social media took an unexpected turn. Amidst the banter surrounding Nigeria’s loss, Burna Boy found himself engaged in a verbal altercation with a Twitter user, now referred to as “X.”
The exchange began when X responded to one of Burna Boy’s tweets, alluding to the singer’s loss at the recent Grammy Awards. In Yoruba, X referred to Burna Boy as a fool, adding, “Ode, bottled 4 Grammy’s.”
In a swift response, Burna Boy retaliated by calling attention to X’s display picture, which happened to feature an image of Davido. This move incited outrage among fans as Burna Boy remarked, “The actual Joke is in your Display picture.”
Following Burna Boy’s initial response, which has since been deleted, there was swift backlash on social media, with fans expressing disappointment in Burna Boy’s jab at Davido. Many criticized the move as childish and predicted potential retaliation from Davido.
Burna Boy also responded to a tweet from another user, pointing out that the troll had changed their display picture from Davido to Burna Boy.

As outrage spread across social media due to Burna Boy’s jab at Davido, Burna hinted at his phone being taken away from him, stating, “Won tun ti gba phone, until next time.”

It’s worth noting that in October 2023, the singer had previously mentioned that his management did not allow him to have access to his social media accounts because “the ground will elevate.”
In his words, “If I had access to my account, everywhere would be shaking every day. The ground will be elevating based on my feelings, and I don’t like disrespect on the internet. They always try to disrespect me on the internet. So, my management does not let me have access, or else the ground will elevate. I will spend too much time there. Honestly, I will spend a lot of time there.”
