In preparation for the 15th edition, The Headies Awards were completely rebranded in 2022, with a new venue, award ceremony date, award categories, and prizes.
The Headies Awards have stepped up preparations for its 15th edition in 2022, and for the first time in the history of Nigeria’s most prestigious award ceremony, which will not be held on home soil.
On the 1st of March 2022, The Headies Awards organizers made a special announcement about the general rebranding of the award ceremony itself.
One of these announcements was the addition of six new award categories.

It is impossible to overstate the spread of Afrobeat to other parts of the world. The organizers of the award ceremony added six new categories to recognize people who contributed significantly to the achievement.

For the first time in the award ceremony’s history, the 15th edition of the headies awards will be held in Atlanta, Georgia, United States.
According to Joey Akan, the Afrobeats Intelligence leader, the US consulate would totally support the Headies and it is scheduled to be held on July 2, 2022.
In addition, The award ceremony organizers added that the winner of the next rated category would be getting a Bentley in the 15th edition of the awards.
This is a new development for the prestigious awards ceremony, and it will bring afrobeat closer to the rest of the world by focusing on it.
