The organizers of The Great Escape 2024, held in Brighton, UK, have announced that Nigerian sibling duo Kingsley Okorie and Benjamin James of The Cavemen will be among the performers at the event.

Adding to the diverse lineup of nearly 300 performers confirmed so far, The Cavemen will bring their unique musical style to the renowned festival. Taking place from May 15 to 18, The Great Escape has been a fixture for 18 years, attracting music lovers from around the world. Traditionally spanning across 30 venues, the festival showcases approximately 500 bands.

With a focus on promoting “new music discovery,” The Great Escape spotlights over 450 emerging artists and promising talents across more than 35 accessible venues throughout the city.

Described on The Great Escape website, The Cavemen are praised as a cult-like group whose nostalgic records and dynamic live performances have garnered them a dedicated following and a distinct reputation of their own.

Nigerian singer Kingsley Okorie, one-half of the renowned Nigerian highlife band The Cavemen, has openly discussed his fascinating journey and the reasons why he decided to pursue music instead of law.

Kingsley revealed the crucial choice he made to pursue a professional music career despite being a licensed attorney.

According to him, music has always been the core of his interest. After graduating from law school, he made the determined decision to pursue a professional music career with his brother, Benjamin, rather than pursue a career in law.

This was revealed during their visit to the most recent episode of The Nancy Isime Show, where they had an honest talk with Benjamin James, his brother and fellow band member.

Benjamin, in presenting his own unusual path, highlighted how he avoided standard university education in favor of attending a specialist music school.
